California Health Sciences University Scholarship Fund

The first University of its kind in Fresno County, California Health Sciences University (CHSU) welcomed its inaugural College of Pharmacy class of 72 students in August 2014. Total student enrollment at CHSU College of Pharmacy is expected to be more than 300 students over the next 4 years.

CHSU College of Pharmacy is a four-year pharmacy school that provides a Doctor of Pharmacy degree program for students living in the Central Valley and beyond. The College of Pharmacy was selected as the first school to open based on a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic that estimates the employment of pharmacists will increase by 14% over the next 10 years. While this national figure shows this employment rate increase is the same for all other occupations, it’s important to note that we have one of the greatest need for pharmacists in the Central Valley. Recognizing that there is a critical shortage of primary care physicians in this region, CHSU will provide the necessary education and training for pharmacy graduates to work in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals in the delivery of primary care.

Nearly half of all CHSU students come from local areas and are a reflection of our great diversity. Many are the first in their families to obtain a college degree and without the existence of CHSU or the financial assistance to help with educational costs, a significant number would not have the opportunity to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Once they are well-trained to deliver primary care in collaboration with physicians, CHSU students will be on the front lines of health care.

Please help us make a difference in students’ lives and to enhance the future of health care in our region by contributing to the California Health Sciences University Scholarship Fund.

Gifts of any size will make a difference and will be gratefully recognized. All donors will be invited to a year-end event where you will meet and celebrate the accomplishments of the students whose lives have been transformed through your generosity.
