Foundation opens two grant cycles; funding opportunities for Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Youth

Fresno, CA – The Fresno Regional Foundation (FRF) is accepting applications for its 2015 Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Youth Grant Cycles.

Teen pregnancy continues to be a significant issue in our region. According to rankings by the Public Health Institute (PHI), Tulare (2nd), Madera (3rd), Fresno (5th), Kings (6th), and Merced (7th) are among the top 10 California counties with the highest teen birth rates. As a result, taxpayers across those five Counties incur an estimated annual cost of $79 million, according to PHI’s data.[1]

FRF is offering approximately $300,000 in grants for Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Merced, and Kings Counties. Two types of grants will be offered: Planning and Program.

Concurrently, FRF is offering approximately $110,000 in the Youth grant cycle for educational projects and programs that support college readiness, access, and attendance. This funding is made possible thanks to the generosity of Dorothy Mitsuoka and the endowed fund she established with FRF. Due to donor restrictions these grants must be for programs serving residents of the Dinuba, Orange Cove, Reedley, and Cutler-Orosi region.

Deadlines

Applying to the Foundation is a two part process; to be eligible for funding, applicants must meet both deadlines:

1. OrgCard deadline is on June 5, 2015 by 5 pm.

2. Grant request deadline is on June 19, 2015 by 5 p.m.
