The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, a private foundation with assets of $8.9 billion, awarded a grant to the Fresno Regional Foundation in 2007 of $1.4 million over three years to tackle two pressing issues in the central San Joaquin Valley; teen pregnancy and air quality. The grant will also support organizational development of Fresno Regional Foundation. Over three years, the Fresno Regional Foundation will disperse the bulk of this grant to local non-profit organizations committed to reducing teen pregnancy and improving air quality throughout the central San Joaquin Valley’s urban and rural communities. These funds will be awarded to local agencies through a competitive application process which was publicized in early 2008.

“As part of the Hewlett Foundation’s commitment to serving disadvantaged communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Central Valley, we are pleased to support Fresno Regional Foundation. We look forward to working with our colleagues in Fresno to have a positive impact on the region,” said Paul Brest, President of the Hewlett Foundation.
